So far my research has been down many different avenues. In regards to where I want to take my practical work next, the most important aspect for me to focus on is the influence of a wordless narrative - how much can I say in a single image?
Moving forward, I want to look into Victorian ghost stories, thinking about how I can portray an atmosphere using the things I have been looking at; film composition, colour, symbols and hidden meanings. Using the motifs and symbols I have looked at already, which are evident in renaissance and surrealist paintings, I want to see how this can influence my own work.
Reading through the comments from my peer feedback session I realised that my initial idea of trying to tackle 5 different stories may be too ambitious. At least for now, I will focus on 3. Another factor I need to consider is how to portray a story in a single image. I may have to focus on key points in the narrative, rather than the entire thing. This is something I will have to think about as I go along, when roughing out compositions.
